AMAZING TRIP TO YORK BY JOSHUA BEACHAM
Our York trip was amazing in every way. The activities that were carried out on all 3 days of our break were really fun!
Before going to our hotel, we stopped at the “MAGNA Science Centre” for a few hours and that was really interesting. We got to watch the “Big Melt” which was a display of the steel works using special effects. We then toured the pavilion (air, fire, earth and water rooms of study) with our group leaders. The water pavilion had rain every fifteen minutes in the entrance so we had to run through very quickly! In the air pavilion, we got a chance to show our noisier side with making music using air. The fire pavilion was very exciting with the fire tornado. The earth pavilion was most loved by students and staff alike, especially when they had a chance to use diggers!
We stayed at the Hotel Ibis in Rotherham. The rooms were very nice and we shared with friends. The only downside was that we had to wake up at 7am every morning and be down for breakfast at 8am!
On Thursday, we had an action-packed, very busy day as we toured York. We went to the York Castle Museum and we got a tour of the “Victorian Street” in the museum by an “actual Victorian man”. Following the museum, we went to Kings Square, where we had a talk and a tour around York. Some of us went to the “Shambles” shopping area and others went to “Subway” for lunch!
After, we walked to the River Ouse to have a river cruise. This was really good fun and thankfully, no one got too sea sick!
We then went onto the York Dungeons where the teachers got picked on! Some of us got scared and the Dungeons were full of screams, laughs and pounding hearts!
For dinner, we went to “Whackers” fish and chip restaurant. The food was delicious and they cooked their fish and chips in beef dripping!
Our final event of the day was a “Ghost Walk”. We learnt about the children of Bedern and one who had been blamed for something he didn’t do and got killed because of it.
We didn’t get back to the hotel until very late so we all went straight to bed as soon as we got back.
Friday, we all went to Alton Towers and we had an amazing time! We went off in pairs or groups of four and I managed to exploit someone into going on the rides “Thirteen”, “Rita” and “Smiler”.
This was an amazing trip, where new friends were “forged” (excuse the MAGNA pun there!). I would give this trip a five-star rating to anyone and I’m pretty sure the trip will be arranged again as it was so successful.
Thank you to Miss Lyons, Miss Quan, Mr Schofield, Mr Clare-Hudson and Miss Thomas who arranged the trip and gave us all a fantastic time. And a huge thanks to the coach driver who gave up 3 days to be with us so we had a fun trip!
