July saw the annual Creative Arts Showcase at Broadoak. It was the culmination of student coursework projects in Art and Design, Product Design, Textile and Art; once again, students excelled in their creative and innovative responses to exam questions and design briefs
A wide range of 2D paintings, photography and 3D art pieces were displayed along with sketch books filled with wonderful experimentations and ideas; we are pleased to be offering photography as a GCSE course from September
The product design outcomes showed a diverse range of thinking from a mobile phone sensor system for deaf people to sustainable seating from recycled wood. Some students had the opportunity to work with local companies to develop their ideas and work to an industrial brief.
The excellent textile garments and soft furnishings displayed highlighted the high standard obtained by these students.
Students currently working towards their Food Technology GCSE had the opportunity to produce canapés for the evening and served them to the visitors.
Many people commented during the evening on the quality and presentation of the work praising the creativity and talents of the students.
