Dance at Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College provides students with the opportunity to develop their emotional, spiritual and physical development whilst challenging their creative, analytical and team working skills. We provide an inspiring and challenging curriculum at KS4 through the AQA GCSE Dance course, focussing on choreography, performance and appreciation. Students are required to study two Professional Works that they will be questioned on in the written exam paper. They will also use these works at stimuli for their Unit 3 Performance in a Group and their Unit 4 Solo Composition.

Here at Broadoak we offer opportunities to become part of the school’s Dance Company and have two companies across KS3 and KS4.
Broadoak Lower School Dance Company
Students learn and help choreograph new material in a variety of dance styles whilst working towards an end performance. Students across KS3 can be involved and they rehearse during allocated after school sessions.
Broadoak Upper School Dance Company
Students develop their technical and performance skills through learning and performing high quality work. This is available for prospective dance students in Year 9 and current GCSE Dance students across Years 10 and 11.
Every year, Broadoak Dance Students are given the opportunity to perform in a variety of productions, including the Performing Arts Showcase as well as North Somerset School’s Dance Festival at The Playhouse Theatre.
At Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College, we have a purpose built Dance Studio equipped with sprung floors, mirrors and a ballet barre. All Dance lessons take place in the Dance Studio along with many Drama lessons and after school Dance clubs.
